SVDP CHRISTMAS APPEAL
This weekend the St Vincent de Paul Society will hold its traditional Christmas Appeal to support poor families and individuals who request assistance. The St Dominic’s conference of SVdP is active in supporting the poor of the parish and the local area, and also a much larger number of people in the public housing areas of central South Melbourne.
The appeal will be held in a number of ways. The main way is by using the on-line format where parishioners can donate through

When a donation is made via this web address, there is a section at the bottom of the page entitled: Comments/Conference name. Please include “East Camberwell” Conference in this section so that your funds are allocated to our conference at St Dominic’s. This will allow your donation to be allocated to our account, and from there it can be allocated directly to families that we assist. Otherwise it will go to the general fund of Vinnies.
Parishioners can also call the Vinnies donation telephone number 131812. If you ring, then please ask that your donation be directed to the East Camberwell conference #402.
The traditional SVdP envelopes will also be available in the church this Christmas, and so envelopes will be another option for parishioners attending Mass.
Many parishioners like to donate Christmas gifts to the parish. This year SVdP will not be able to physically distribute Christmas gifts, and instead we intend to distribute Christmas gift cards through the mail or by other arrangements. Parishioners can either provide corporate gift cards to the parish mailbox, or make a donation for the purchase of gift cards through the on-line or telephone means above.
After such a trying year your support will be greatly appreciated by the families we assist.

As Federal Government assistance is now being reduced in relation to Job Keeper and Job Seeker payments the SVdP expects more assistance will be requested from families and people living by themselves. The Society is here to assist. We expect people that have never requested assistance in the past to seek help. If you, or anyone that you know, needs assistance please telephone the SVdP Call Centre at Box Hill on 1800 305 330 and the volunteer/ staff member will arrange for the closest Conference to telephone the person seeking assistance to discuss their requirements/ needs.

are available again this year. Due to COVID 19 pandemic the cards will need to be ordered and will be delivered by Conference members to your home. The packs (8 cards in a pack) will be sold for $7.00 per pack or 3 packs for $20.00. Please email John Dowling on jgdowling@yahoo.com.au or phone John on 0401 059 166 and leave a message, to order packs. The delivery will be non contact with cards left at your home and the money collected at the same time. The non contact is a strict Society requirement during the pandemic.
